He graduated with honors as a South Carolina Teaching Fellow.

Previously, Mr. Martin taught as a staff instructor with the Ridge View High School Blazer Band and Wind Ensemble and completed his student teaching placements at Crayton Middle School and White Knoll High School. When asked about taking the reins of the MHS Band, Mr. Martin said he is “excited to begin his professional teaching career at McBee High School and take The Bands of McBee to new musical heights!”

At the end of the semester, Matthew Crawley will be transitioning to a new role in the Information Technology department of Chesterfield County Schools. Mr. Crawley has been a music/band teacher in the district for the past 16 years. According to Mr. Crawley “I am very pleased to see Mr. Martin as the new director. His experiences and training will prove to be reinvigorating to the McBee Band program.” About leaving, “While I will miss the students, I’m excited that my new role will allow me to keep a connection to the school I love. I’ll always be a supporter of the McBee Bands and cannot wait to see what they do next.”
